About Thorium Oxide

Thorium Oxide is white to yellow colored crystalline solid which is utilized as stabilizer for electron tubes and tungsten electrodes. It has molecular formula ThO2 with molar mass of 264.037 g/mol with density of around 10.0 g/cm3. This compound is also utilized as ceramic fuel pellets in nuclear reactors. It is insoluble in water & alkali and shows slight solubility in acids. Thorium Oxide has very high melting & boiling points of 3350 & 4400 degrees Celsius respectively. It is odorless chemical which is considered to be the most important ingredient in thorotrast.
