It tends to release oxygen in specific amount when exposed to hydrous media. Calcium peroxide easily dissolves in acid to produce hydrogen peroxide. It is insoluble in water. Its chemical properties remain unaffected at normal temperature. This chemical is used to formulate preservatives, bactericide, oil bleaching agent, etc.
