Benzil Powder

Benzil Powder finds most common application for polymer chemistry as a photoinitiator. It also has a role to play for free-radical curing of polymer networks under controlled conditions. This powder appears as yellow colored substance with molecular formula C14H10O2 and molar mass of 210.232 g/mol. It is insoluble in water but shows solubility in ethanol, benzene, & diethyl ether. Benzil Powder has density of 1.23 g/cm3 with boiling point range of 346 to 348 degrees Celsius. It can industrially be produced by a reaction between benzoin & copper acetate. This powder is transported in strong thermoplastic container for ensuring safety while storage & long shelf life.
