Lithium Perchlorate LR is white colored crystalline compound which finds application in inorganic chemistry as a source of oxygen. It has chemical formula LiClO4 with molecular weight of 106.39 g/mol in anhydrous form. This compound also has a role to play as a co-catalyst in organic chemistry and serves as an electrolyte in lithium-ion batteries. It is odorless compound with density of about 2.42 g/cm3 and shows melting point of about 236 degrees Celsius. Lithium Perchlorate LR is soluble in water, organic solvents, and ethyl acetate. It can industrially be prepared by reaction between sodium perchlorate & lithium chloride.
